Our first Asbury park Mardi Gras was a big success!
Thanks to everyone who came out to Asbury Park Mardi Gras on Saturday February 6th. It was wonderful to see how much you all got into the celebration. Our events ran from 1 pm to midnight, with mask decorations, face painting, and the big finale: the Masquerade Ball at the House Of Independents. Here’s some photos of all the fun!
Mask Decorating:
Our mask decorating project was a fun way to explore downtown Asbury Park! Participants picked up a free mask at Backward Glances, then visited 16 businesses to receive free decorations for the masks. We had mask decorating tables set up outside our store in the Shoppes at the Arcade. There were some very creative designs. Prizes were awarded in a kid’s and adult’s divisions later in the afternoon.

Face Painting:
Lots of kids (and a few adults) took advantage of the free face painting. Hands were painted, too. Our talented artists were Raven and Jade. Here are some of their happy customers.
The Masquerade Ball:
The Asbury Park Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball was a blast! It was great to see so many people in costume! Choosing our costume contest winner was difficult; but our audience made the final decision. Congrats to our King of Mardi Gras, Patrick from Hillside (AKA Captain Morgan) and his jester Queen, Maria from Matawan. The royal court was filled out by Megan the elegant rabbit. These three were awarded fantastic prizes from the merchants of Asbury Park.

Hope to do it all again next year! Check our events page for updates!
