You never know what you will discover at Backward Glances.
We’re always finding cool collectibles, including many unopened trading cards, coloring books and more fun gift ideas!
Did you know that trading cards were first included in cigarette packs? This practice dates back to the 1880’s. Baseball cards were first included in a gum pack by Bowman Gum in 1948.
Topps Chewing Gum Inc. stated inserting trading cards into bubble gum packs in 1950, and did not restrict it to baseball; they manufactured trading cards for movies and TV, too. Topps bought Bowman Gum in 1956, and became the leader in all kinds of trading cards. Gum was included in the packs until 1981, and after that the packs were cards only.
So all of our vintage trading cards up to 1981 include gum; but you don’t want to eat it! Vintage trading cards are just a few of the cool collectibles that you find here at Backward Glances.
