Some old fashioned toys are so classic that they have their own day! Did you know that May 16th is National Sea Monkey Day?
Sea Monkeys were invented in 1957 by Harold Von Braunhut and marine biologist Dr. Anthony D’Agostino. They were originally called “Instant Life”, but the name was changed to “Sea Monkeys” in 1962. They were marketed by ads in comic books, using illustrations by Joe Orlando (that don’t look much like the real Sea Monkeys). Astronaut John Glenn took Sea Monkeys into space in 1998!
